Auto-install popular scripts. It’s magic!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2018 by Servage

Hey, have you ever wondered why so many free scripts are complicated to setup? Why don’t they always work out of the box? Exactly! It’s annoying! Many Servage users think that way, and I can only agree with you. And it doesn’t have to be like that. With the Autoinstaller tool in your Servage account, you can install many of the most common open source scripts within seconds. It’s as simple as pressing the mouse button.

The need for an Autoinstaller
Most open source scripts require somewhere in the area of a few to a lot of things to setup and customize, depending on your hosting account, before it works. This is often because the developers have made it compatible with “anywhere”. Of course it’s good they do so, but for many users it’s still a bit complicated to use. Therefore Servage has taken that part of the workload from you, by creating ready-to-run packages, that are optimized for your Servage account – without the need for complicated configuration.

How to use the Autoinstaller
You can use the Autoinstaller via the control panel.

  1. Login on cp.servage.net
  2. Choose Tools > Autoinstaller in the left menu
  3. Select the desired package to install (choose between many popular scripts like WordPress blog, Drupal CMS, phpBB discussion board, and many more)
  4. Follow the few simple steps the Autoinstaller takes you through

There you go! The script is installed and configured for you. Ready to run!

Feel free to comment with ideas for other scripts you would like to see available in the Autoinstaller.

We will follow this description of the Autoinstaller up with some sample cases, where we use the Autoinstaller to create websites for specific needs, like a blog, a web-shop, a content management system and a discussion forum.
